Description

This Astrobin Debut Object is a pair of spiral galaxies located 130 million light years away in the constellation of Pisces at a declination of +4 degrees.

NGC 7731 is the yellow ring spiral galaxy seen to the upper right, looking a bit like M94 to me.  It spans 1.3 arc-minutes in our apparent view.  This corresponds to a diameter of 60,000 light years.  2 bright ansae are seen at opposite edges of the bright inner ring, suggesting the possible presence of a slight bar structure.

NGC 7732 is the near edge-on, blue spiral galaxy seen to the lower left.  It is slightly larger at 80,000 light years in diameter.  I like the odd star cloud patterns to the lower right of the core.

Neither galaxy looks significantly disturbed, so I doubt that they are at the exact same distance away from us.
